A simple design of 2 herringbone gears that mesh together and are held together by 2 brackets to fidget with or demonstrate gear meshing. The model is not perfect, but it is certainly usable.

Notes:

I used PLA. PLEASE PRINT GEARS WITH A RAFT. I have found if you do not print the gears with a raft, 'elephants foot' causing them to not easily mesh without lots of sanding (read more about elephants foot here: https://all3dp.com/2/elephant-s-foot-3d-printing-problem-easy-fixes/). The brackets do not need a raft

After removing your print(s) from the bed, you may need to sand certain parts to get them to press fit. The pins that fit together to hold the whole assembly together (on the end of the support brackets) are particularly easy to snap off if you are not careful with them.

It should be fairly self explanatory how it goes together, just ensure the top/bottoms of the gears are the same way (both facing up or down) so they mesh properly

How I Designed This

The Herringbone gears are simply a helical gear mirrored (I used Fusion 360s Helical Gear Generator).
After this I just drew a bracket to fit them at the correct spacing distance.
