Pros and Cons of the Bambu Lab P1S

Bambu Lab has made significant strides in the 3D printing industry, with one of their most notable innovations being the Automatic Material System (AMS). This system streamlines the material feed process, optimizing the overall printing experience. For those looking to save some cash, it is possible to upgrade the P1P with an AMS. However, aesthetically speaking, the AMS doesn't quite blend seamlessly with the P1P's open-frame design; it feels more like an add-on rather than an integrated feature.

On the other hand, the P1S, with its more cohesive design, pairs harmoniously with the AMS. The overall look and feel of the P1S + AMS combo is more refined, presenting a unified and sophisticated appearance that significantly outshines the disjointed look of the open-framed P1P combined with the AMS.

While the P1S boasts several advancements, it isn't without its shortcomings. The most prominent of these is the lack of a full-color touchscreen interface. In today's digital age, intuitive touch controls have become a standard in many devices, offering users an enhanced, user-friendly experience. The absence of this feature on the P1S feels like a missed opportunity to fully modernize the printer and streamline user interactions.

Pros: Excellent value for multi-material AMS and enclosure.

Cons: Lacks full-color touchscreen controls.

Upgrade Your Bambu Lab P1P to a P1S

If you have recently purchased a Bambu Lab P1P, you might be interested in upgrading your P1P to the P1S. Fortunately, Bambu Lab has made this an option. They currently offer a limited number of upgrade kits, available for just $150 USD.

The Verdict:

Bambu Lab is really swinging for the fences with the P1S+AMS combo, coming in at only $949 for a premium 3D printer. This new addition to Bambu is set to shake up the 3D printing industry yet again.
